A selection of GiGi von tapas 5 star google reviews, news and blogs

This page also includes information about our sister brunch restaurants in Barcelona, Milk and Firebug.

Tucked away on the blossoming boulevard of Carrer de la Marina, overlooking the ornate Museo Taurino de la Monumental and within strolling distance from La Sagrada Familia, GiGi Von Tapas is another gift from the trailblazing team behind Marmalade, Milk and Firebug.

Known for their hearty all-day feasts, stellar cocktails and refreshingly attentive staff, they stand for everything that makes life so great in a city where every day feels like Sunday.

And the good news is that now, 15 years after opening what was arguably the first proper brunch haunt in Barcelona, they have opened yet another haven of homely goodness that has something to offer at any time of day.

GiGi’s is an ode to the joys of classic Spanish dining, of sharing the finer things in life around a table, but with a more colourful and creative range of dishes that you won’t find elsewhere.

In its former incarnation, this locale was a restaurant beloved by bullfighting aficionados who would gather here before or after a corrida. In these more enlightened times (at least here in Catalonia), this venue has been reborn as a modern yet cosy brunch and tapas bar.

Although you can still enjoy vistas of the old bullfighting arena while relaxing on their street terrace, while nods to the restaurant’s history are still visible in the interior decor. Check out the bulls’ head-shaped baskets hanging on the wall!

Incredible test of everything that we ordered, we almost tried everything from the offered tapas and we were amazed by every dish that was brought to our table, drinks did not disappointed us at all, and the deserts at the end was literally a cherry on the top of the cake!

Very friendly service and really good vibes! Strongly recommended!

Arrive hungry because you’ll have to order at least 5 things from this delicious menu. If you are like me an have annoying vegan girlfriend then they will also be delighted by quote “the best gyozas” she’s ever had.

She also despises aubergine but the sticky aubergine were apparently incredible. I devoured the butter prawns and chicken wings as well as other dishes.

Staff were incredibly attentive and even told us about other vegan restaurants he’d recommend. Highly recommend this place, great location and atmosphere.

Probably the best restaurant we went to in Barcelona during our week stay. I’m vegetarian with food allergies and they were extremely accommodating and food and drink was delivered very quickly.

We ordered sangria, bread with tomato, tandoori spiced almonds, oven potatoes, mushroom croquettes, and 100g of iberian ham for the meat eater.

Everything was incredible! The meals everyone around us ordered also looked great. Would definitely come back here if I’m ever in Barcelona again.
